Dutch coffee and tea company, Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) asked our team to redesign their on-table storage container and cup tray for the business-to-business market. This resulted in a range of products that perfectly reflect JDE’s brand and provide a nice coffee and tea experience. We took care of the complete development process, from the first sketches to the final market introduction.
For the storage container – which can be found on meeting tables, in hotel lobbies, and in conference rooms – we chose soft and friendly round shapes. The lid is glossy white, which almost has a ceramic feel and prominently presents the well-established DE logo. The black base of the stand has a matte finish, stressing its soft and friendly appearance. Once opening the box, the sugar sticks, creamer and tea bags are neatly presented in clean white cavities.
In line with this look and feel, we also created their new cup tray. Again the same black matte finish is used. The compact and functional tray has a comfortable grip on both sides and can carry up to six cups. The recessed space in the tray’s center can hold all the coffee and tea necessities. A great little product that helps you to serve hot coffee and tea to your colleagues or clients without burning yourself.
FLEX/the WORKSHOP provided the prototypes in several design phases. These intangible results made it considerably easier for our client to decide on recommended changes and improvements.
